Museum

The Canby Depot Museum is housed in one of Oregon’s oldest surviving railroad stations. From its earliest days, the Canby Historical Society envisioned creating a museum where the community’s history could be preserved and shared. That vision became possible in the early 1980s, when the historic Canby Depot became available to the society.

For most of Canby’s history, the depot served as an active train station at the intersection of North First Avenue and Grant Street. When the railroad announced plans to dismantle the building, the Save the Depot Committee and Canby Historical Society rallied the community and raised the funds needed to save it. The depot was moved to its present location near Northeast Fourth Avenue and Pine Street, adjacent to the Clackamas County Fairgrounds.

Today, the Canby Depot Museum invites visitors to explore the people, places, and events that shaped the community. Society members continue to preserve and organize historic photographs, documents, artifacts, and exhibits, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into Canby’s past and everyday life in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
